Search Engine Submission

In order to get search engines like google and yahoo to have their robots crawl your web site or blog they have to know where to find you.
You can submit your web site and blog url's to search engines manually for free. Once at the site you enter in your url and you have the option of providing a description. Always include a clear and focused description of what can be found on your web site or blog.
To submit to google:
www.google.com/addurl
For google Canada:
www.google.ca/submiturl
For Yahoo:
https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit
At google you'll also need to enter the Human Verification Code.
It can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks or longer before the robots get around to crawling your pages. Once your pages have been crawled there is no guarantee that your site will be listed. So while you are waiting keep adding quality, relevant content that stays within the focus of your website or blog.

A Picture Deserves a Few Words!

Does your web site or blog have pictures? Have you posted them using detailed descriptions? If you are posting a picture and you are not "naming" it with a detailed description you are missing the search engine boat.If someone is searching for a picture of a black 1967 mustang they are going to type black 1967 mustang into the search bar. If the picture of the black 1967 mustang on your site is labeled #0000764 then you have just lost a potential visitor.
Even though a picture is worth a thousand words it still needs a good title so it can be found easily. This small detail is often over looked by webmasters and bloggers. Using descriptive titles for your pictures is one way to increase visitors to your site that doesn't require a lot of time or money.
Remember no one is going to search for #0000475 and hope they find what they are looking for.

Monetized Blog

Another good way to earn money from your blog is with Amazon.com. Just go to amazon.com and apply to be an Amazon associate. You’ll know if your account has been approved in a couple of days.

Amazon offers a very wide variety of products. You’re sure to find something specifically related to your blog. It could be books, merchandise, music, movies, software etc.

You select the products you want to list for sale on your blog. You can customize the colors of the ads to match your blog. Just highlight and copy the html code and insert it into your blog. You can place the ads anywhere you want in the body of the post. You can also post the ads in the sidebar or in the footer. If you place them in the footer they will appear at the bottom of every page of your blog.

Amazon commissions start at 4%. You will have a better chance of selling the product listed if you actually mention it by name in your post somewhere. If you have a gardening blog and were giving your readers information on purple haze carrots then purple haze carrot seeds would be a good item to list.

Quit Playing with the Adsense

If you want your Adsense to be successful you need to leave it alone. You need to concentrate on really great, focused content. You need to develop a readership for your blog. Loyal readers that will keep coming back and tell others about it. The best way to do that is with great content.

If your blog is about cars and you mention that people shouldn't park under willow trees because the sap will ruin the finish that's fine. But if you go on to tell them what trees they can park under you'll likely end up with ads for Smith's Tree Farm or The Tree Doctor. If your visitors are there to read about cars they're not going to click on an ad for trees.

Keep your posts on-topic and very focused. Don't stray from the main idea or topic. If the ads coming up are relevant to why your visitors are there in the first place they are more likely to click on them.

You take care of putting up great content and let Google take care of the Adsense. I hear they're pretty good at it.

Monetizing Your Blog

Monetizing Your Blog

So just what is a monetized blog you ask? Simply put it's a blog that makes you money. There are several ways of doing this. The most commonly known way to monetize your blog is with google adsense. You go to google and apply for an adsense account. You place google's code on your site and they do the rest. Google then places ads relevant to your blog topic on your site. When your visitors click on an ad you get a percentage of what google gets paid by that advertiser. Sounds simple, and it is.
Other compamies such as yahoo and bidvertiser are getting in on the action too.
The only thing you have to decide on is the type of ad you want google to place on your site, the size you want it, and the colours. Some ad styles work better than others. For colour choice it's usually best if the ads blend in with your blog. You don't want them to stick out like a sore thumb. You can place the ads anywhere you want to. At the top or bottom of the page, down either side or somewhere in the middle. There are a few good products out there to help you do this. They are listed below.
